The Sky Is Still There – Conversations with the Pack

I am Doodlebug, King of the Olde English Bulldogges.

Sweetie: (singing) Ohhh, say can you see, The sky is still there, Even after the humans tried to blow it to pieces…

Me: Very nice, but not exactly accurate. And you’ll be happy to know that the fireworks are over for now.

Doodlebug: Our prayer was answered. I don’t even notice any holes.

Me: No. No holes. Breathe it in.

MoonCat: A whole sky is a nice thing to have around.

You Ain’t Heard Nothin’ Yet – Conversations with the Pack

I am Doodlebug, King of the Olde English Bulldogges.

Sweetie: What were the humans up to last night, Lady Human?

Me: Oh, the fireworks?

Doodlebug: The big boom-booms.

Sweetie: Oh, no! Y’all were trying to blow up the sky again.

Me: It’s a celebration. And today is the big day. If you thought last night was loud, you ain’t heard nothin’ yet.

Doodlebug: Great Creator of all, please keep the sky where You put it.

Sweetie: Yes, please! The humans are up to their foolishness again!

MoonCat: I think the bulldogs give humans a little too much credit. After all these years, the sky is still here.

The Sky Broke…Again! – Conversations with the Pack

I am Doodlebug, King of the Olde English Bulldogges. Aaaaaaa! What was that?

Sweetie: The sky broke! What have the humans messed up now, Lady Human?

Me: It’s a thunderstorm passing over.

Sweetie: I was asleep.

Me: So was I.

Doodlebug: Why do this at night?

Me: Atmospheric conditions.

Sweetie: Sounds like a made-up excuse for y’all to get by with something. MoonCat! Are you awake?

MoonCat: I am now.

Sweetie: The humans have cracked the sky again.

MoonCat: They broke it. They bought it. Good night.

The Confused Sky – Conversations with the Pack

I am Doodlebug, King of the Olde English Bulldogges.

Sweetie: Lady Human, it’s different today.

Me: Well, every day is, isn’t it?

Sweetie: Now the air is almost warm.

Doodlebug: Yeah, it was cold and then warm, and cold, and then warm. The sky is confused.

Sweetie: Yeah, pick something and stick with it.

MoonCat: The earth is not a restaurant and the sky is not a menu. Hey, Bulldogs, it’s not the sky that’s confused.

Quiet Time – Conversations with the Pack

I am Doodlebug, King of the Olde English Bulldogges.

Sweetie: Why are you so quiet, Lady Human? Is it human stuff again?

Me: Yeah.

Doodlebug: Why are you looking at the sky? Is there a storm?

Me: With humans, there’s always a storm somewhere. I like looking at the sky. It’s so big. It reminds me of the One Who made it all.

Sweetie: Bigger than the storm?

Me: Oh, yeah. And bigger than the humans.

MoonCat: Well, that’s good news.

Sweep the Sky – Conversations with the Pack

I am Doodlebug, King of the Olde English Bulldogges.

Sweetie: Lady Human, look! The sky got swept clean. The blue is showing again. You actually swept up the dirt from something. Good for you!

MoonCat: Well done. I’m taking a nap. Y’all can fuss on your own.

Me: I didn’t sweep the sky clean. Credit where credit is due. The Great Creator took care of all that. The winds died down. The dirt fell to earth and settled in a new place.

Doodlebug: I’m glad He worked that out because had we waited for you to use your broom…

Sweetie: We’d still be waiting.
