The Best Laid Plans of Mice and Men – Conversations with the Pack

I am Doodlebug, King of the Olde English Bulldogges. Lady Human, part of the tiny house fell off! Fix it! Fix it!

Me: The shed? Yeah, we have to put that right. Well, “the best laid plans of mice and men often go awry”, as a famous poet once said.

Sweetie: Was that a human? Sounds like it.

Me: Yeah, a Scottish man named Robert Burns wrote a poem entitled “To a Mouse”.

Sweetie: That causes problems. Never talk to mice. And never ever write to them.

Doodlebug: Of course mice plans go wrong. And as for humans…well…there’s that shed.

MoonCat: I wouldn’t pick on mice or humans too much, bulldogs. There’s plenty of “awry” to go around.

A Bulldog Plan – Conversations with the Pack

I am Doodlebug, King of the Olde English Bulldogges.

Sweetie: Lady Human, I have a bulldog plan so that what happened yesterday will never happen again. No more loud booms. No more bullhorns.

Doodlebug: Yes, leave the bulls alone with their horns.

Me: Sounds interesting. What’s the plan?

Sweetie: Humans don’t do anything anymore. Bulldogs run it all.

Me: Uh-oh.

Sweetie: Admit it, ma’am. Humans have been fouling stuff up for a long time. Bulldogs would do a better job.

Me: I have trouble picturing that.

MoonCat: Picture this. A total disaster where nothing works and bulldogs have chewed everything up. Then they’ve deposited their “stuff” everywhere before snoring loudly through their numerous naps. An occasional loud noise instead? I can live with that.

Battle Plans – Conversation with the Pack

I am Doodlebug, King of the Olde English Bulldogges.

Me: All right. Go ahead and tell me. What are you all whispering about?

Sweetie: Not a thing.

Doodlebug: What whispering?

MoonCat: They are planning to take away the mop the next time Tall Man pulls it out.

Doodlebug: Treason!

Sweetie: Turncoat!

Mooncat: I am not a bulldog as you are so quick to remind me. Therefore, Doodlebug is not my king and no treason is involved. End of discussion!

Me: So what was your plan? Emphasis on the was.

Doodlebug: A good leader never divulges battle plans against mops and brooms.

Sweetie: Especially when the plans are stupid and not likely to work.
