What to Do with Tense Humans – Conversations with Stella and the Pack

I am Stella, Queen of the Olde English Bulldogges. The humans are tense. Again.

Tiger:  Are they doing that stupid voting thing? They always act up during those times.

Stella:  Yeah, but that is not why they are acting up right now. It has something to do with toilet paper.

Miss Sweetie:  What is that?

Wiggles:  You know. That funny paper on a roll that hangs on the wall in their potty rooms.

Doodlebug:  The stuff that covers the floor when I hit it with my feet. That is fun stuff. The humans don’t seem to like that game.

Stella:  Lady Human seems to think that paper is important and must hang on the wall. Who understands humans? They are very weird.

Me:  What are you grumbling about?

Stella:  The humans are tense again, and that always makes us tense. What can we do to help you?

Me:  Not much right now. Just be your own adorable, lovable selves. That helps us a lot during tense times.

Tiger:  Lady Human, do you need the funny paper rolls? We can go dig some up in the yard.

Me:  Toilet paper? No, I found some at a store down the street yesterday after I got back from the feed store with your extra food. We have enough of your dog food for about 5 ½ weeks now.

Stella:  After that, will we eat toilet paper?

Doodlebug:  Yum!

    1. I’ve been wondering that, too. I guess it reveals where our national heart really is when it gets down to brass tacks. Toilets matter.
It’s a panic-manufactured shortage. When Hurricane Harvey hit down on the coast a few years ago, somebody started talking about refineries being shut down, North Texas panicked, and bingo, instant gasoline shortage. If everybody had just filled up like regular, there would have been no shortage.

      1. I know. I found this craze just nuts. Someone told me today they bought a case of 24 rolls for $85 I get it for $20 normally maybe less. Between the panic and price gouging shows how these situations get out of control.

      2. I walked into my closest Walgreen’s on Friday and found them fully stocked with their own brand of toilet paper. I picked up 16 rolls at the regular price and didn’t make a dent although all the other brands were out. I came back Saturday and they had been cleaned out.
My daughter in Phoenix and my daughter in Nashville let me know today that the TP shortage has gotten serious in their locations. I don’t even remember hearing if either place has a reported COVID-19 case.

      3. I have no words for this insane thinking. Now they’ll be a shortage and I was stocked up.
I even ordered my dog food when I have a ton left knowing it might take longer than normal to receive it and I didn’t want to risk anything.

      4. I did the same thing the other day. Now I have a 5 1/2 week supply. I don’t think there will be a run on feed stores and that brand of dog food is manufactured here in Texas, but it’s hard to predict in what direction crazy thinking will head.

      5. I know your comment reminded me to place the order because I meant to and forgot. See helping Marshy and Zoey all the way in Texas 🐶🐶
