Sweetie: If he keeps pecking at me, you can name him Pancake as in “flat as a”!
Doodlebug: A rooster pancake. Hmmm.
MoonCat: Hmmm. Pancake the Rooster or a rooster pancake. Nope, not on my agenda.

Doodlebug: Yeah, he needs one of those clocks we were talking about because it is way past sunup.
Sweetie: And he is way too loud. Is he in a contest or something?
Baby and Bud: AACCKK! Loud enough?
Me: Sorry, y’all. His head is bigger and his throat is wider than yours. A different fowl altogether.
Baby and Bud: Awwww.
Me: You’re plenty loud on your own.
MoonCat: I’m glad somebody finally said it.

Me: Sweetie, what in the world are you howling at?
Sweetie: I’m telling the loud chicken to put a sock in it!
Me: I think you mean the rooster.
Sweetie: I think I mean the loud chicken that keeps yelling at the sky!
Me: Yeah, that’s a rooster. Crowing is his thing.
Doodlebug: Pretty soon, he’s going to find out what real crowing sounds like, bulldog-style!
Sweetie: Ahhh-oooo-oooo! Some roosters don’t know when to shut up!
MoonCat: So says the crowing bulldog.

I am Doodlebug, King of the Olde English Bulldogges. Lady Human, we have a problem. That large bird is walking around outside, shooting his mouth off again. I told him to stop, but he ignored my royal authority.
Sweetie: Ma’am, how can you complain about loud mouthery from bulldogs when that loud mouthery is going on from a bird of all things? We are not nearly so irritating.
MoonCat: Loud mouthery? That has to be a bulldog invention. They are the experts in the field of loud and mouths.
