Sweetie: Why are these tree arms on the ground? Didn’t the trees want them anymore?

Me: Some trees like pecan trees self-prune.

Doodlebug: Sounds painful.

Me: It can be.

Sweetie: Why do it then?

Me: It can be more painful in the long run not to.

MoonCat: Don’t look at me. I like my limbs just fine.
